April 18th: Staff Meeting No School April 24th:Hot Lunch& Hat Day April 29th:Constituency Meeting @ 7pm May 3rd:Education Day Program @ 10:30am May 15th:Deadline: Mural Creatures May 22nd:Sports Day Education Day Program: is scheduled in the College Heights Church for Saturday, May 3 during the morning church service. Most students will be involved in music, choral speech, prayer, skits, ushering, etc. The College Heights SDA Church financially subsidizes our school program to a great extent, so Education Day is, in part, a valuable opportunity to thank them for their support and to show them what the students are learning. For this reason, it is really important to have everyone participating, whether or not College Heights Church is the regular place of worship. To be effective, we need everyone present. Please plan ahead to keep that day open so you can attend, and your child can participate. Students will need to be available from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. Thanks for your support.
Wonka’s Wonder World: Parent Survey: It’s that time of year when we must look ahead and plan for next school year. We need to know your plans so that budgeting and approximate class sizes can be determined. Please complete the attached survey, and return it to the office by April 30th. Thank you for assisting in our planning for the 08 / 09 school year. No School: Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday, April 18th. The CHCS School Board: Gives notice of the Annual Constituency Meeting to be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 7:00pm in the CHCS gym. Various reports will be given regarding the operations and program of CHCS. Plans for next year will also be discussed. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Where are the Creatures?
We are excited that our school entry mural is completed. Special thanks to Tim Giles, the artist, who worked on this project, and did such an amazing job of transforming our entry into Albert’a Parkland. In the mural, Tim included animals and birds that are native to our area. Many of these creatures are very obvious and some are not. We’re holding a contest to see who can find all of the creatures and name them appropriately. There will be a draw among those who find and label all of the creatures accurately. There will be four categories: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and Adult, and there will be winners who will receive prizes in each of these categories. Parents, CHCS staff as well as any other adults are welcome to enter this contest. Attached to the RoundUp is an entry form for the contest. Contest deadline is Thursday, May 15, 2008.
Assembly: On Monday, the junior high participated in an assembly with Tabitha and Lucinda from the Central Alberta Diversity Association. There were some good points to think about. The best part was the activity. The activity got us up and moving, and trying to understand how confusing it might be for people who move from another culture. - Grade 7 class
Running away means you’re keeping your anger in your heart and not letting someone know how you really feel. - Ranzell Ortega, Grade 4
I learned that blaming other people is not a very good choice. Eve blamed Satan and Adam blamed God for making Eve. - Heather Chung, Grade 4 Sports Day: Our annual Sports Day is being held on Thursday, May 22nd. Track and field events will be held all day. Students from several other Adventist schools in Alberta, as well as from home schools, are joining us and, in addition to our own students, we will be hosting approximately 500 + participants. As you can expect, we will need LOTS of help (at least 100 people). Please contact anyone who you think might be able / willing to help and contact the school office to leave names. Thanks. Yearbook Advertising: Parents, if you have a business or service that you would like advertised in our yearbook that goes home with all the students, please contact the school office by May 15th.West Edmonton Mall Tickets: We have Choice Passes to the West Edmonton Mall available to purchase.
